The 20 campsites and holiday villages that joined forces in 2011 under the shared name Lago di Garda Camping are located between San Felice del Benaco on the south-western shore of Lake Garda in the Lombardy region and the town of Garda on the lake’s eastern shore, on the western edge of the province of Verona. All of them offer direct access to Lake Garda, and more than half are within walking distance of small towns and villages. A matter close to the hearts of the site operators is introducing their guests to the beauty of Lake Garda and its surroundings.

Over the years, and as campers’ expectations have evolved, holiday villages and new accommodation options such as maxi caravans, apartments and holiday homes have been developed while preserving “traditional camping”. Traditional campsites have also seen innovations: private toilets for exclusive use, very well-equipped pitches and, in some cases, pitches with a private whirlpool are now available.

Some campsites also feature water parks, pools, sports facilities such as tennis, football and beach volleyball, children’s playgrounds or spa areas, as well as shops, grocery stores, restaurants, cafés and bars. Measures have been taken to reduce environmental impact, and some of the sites are certified accordingly.

For holidays with your own motorhome, green pitches of various sizes are available, sunny or shaded, with lake views or set within the park. In addition to classic pitches for motorhomes, caravans or tents, the campsites also offer bungalows, mobile homes and small villas. All new accommodation units are equipped with heating and air conditioning, making them ideal for camping holidays in the low season or shoulder season. Maxi caravans are particularly popular with families and young people thanks to their space for up to six people and their attractive value for money.

Some sites offer what is known as “glamping”, a creative blend of glamour and camping. This may include small boutique tents with every comfort, fully equipped mobile homes down to the finest detail, some with their own whirlpool, or extra-large “VIP pitches” with special services.

Lake Garda: A Destination of Longing

What began in the 1950s remains true today: Lake Garda is the number-one travel destination among Italy’s lakes for holidaymakers from German-speaking Europe and is easily accessible by car. The longing for nature and relaxation, the combination of mountains and lake, the Italian way of life and, not least, Italian cuisine come together to create the perfect holiday for most travellers. Covering almost 370 square kilometres, it is the largest lake in Italy. Its scenic diversity is what makes it so appealing.
